How reading and writing is linked together...
Researchers believe that there is a clear link between reading and writing. It has been found that they support each other. When a child is writing, they must deeply concentrate on what is being written, thinking about what symbols need to be used, the order in which letters need to be placed and writing from left to right (Hill, 2012). When they are reading, the prior knowledge of their writing skills comes in to play. Likewise, when writing, they refine their knowledge of reading by reinforcing the “similarities and differences” (Hill, 2012, p. 320) of the sounds of letters. Therefore, both reading and writing play a vital part in supporting each other.
